Mahendra Nath came to the United States from India in 1964. He graduated with an MS in Industrial Engineering in 1965 from the University of Minnesota. He had a very humble beginning. He came to the United States from India with only $800 in his pocket. Today he is CEO and President of Nath Companies, a family-owned business headquartered in Bloomington, Minnesota.

Mahendra credits his success to combining basic business concepts with innovation and vision. All company training focuses on quality, customer service and attention to detail. He encourages employees’ entrepreneurial spirits, challenges them to set goals and welcomes their input and ideas. The company’s success was recognized when the Nath family received the 1997 Family Business of the Year Award from the University of St. Thomas in Minneapolis.

Mahendra Nath was featured in the November 1997 issue of Twin Cities Business Monthly and was on the cover again in July 2002 when he was inducted into the Minnesota Business Hall of Fame. He was again featured on the cover of the Minnesota Business magazine in December 2003. India Abroad, Franchising World and popular business columnist Dick Youngblood of the Star Tribune are among others that have featured Mahendra’s story and the success of Nath Companies. Most recently, Mahendra was included in Twin Cities Business magazines “200 Minnesotans you should know” from their April 2010 issue.


Vice President & Secretary, Nath Companies

Asha Nath is one of the founding members of Nath Companies and has played an integral role in the success of Nath Companies through her experience as a real estate broker. While Mahendra was working full time at Sperry Corporation, Asha was selling homes in Minnesota until the early 1980’s. In 1982 she focused her expertise on commercial real estate, concentrating on both market rate and subsidized rental apartment buildings. Throughout the 1980’s she managed all of the apartment buildings owned by the Nath Companies. Asha’s experience as a real estate broker has been a valuable asset in locating additional investment opportunities for the organization.

As Vice President and Secretary of Nath Companies, Asha is responsible for the day-to-day cash management of the organization as well as other banking and financial institutional matters.
